“Outstanding in all areas.” That’s how OfSTED graded NEW College in Pontefract last year: In no small part down to the skills, efforts and dedication of our increasingly successful Maths Department. We strive hard to create a supportive, student-centred culture – and are now seeking fresh talent to become part of the team.

We are pleased to have the flexibility to offer between a 0.8 part time and a full time position for the right candidate. We can offer you the opportunity to teach across a variety of Level 3 Maths courses (Maths, Use of Maths and Further Maths) as well as Level 2 FSMQ and GCSE.

What will you bring? A proven track record of achieving outstanding results. A genuine enthusiasm for your subject area. The ability to engage and inspire students of all abilities. A commitment to raising aspirations and a willingness to go the extra mile.

Why might this move be right for you? NEW College compares very favourably with national Sixth Form College results tables – and has a great reputation for growing successful careers. More importantly still, your fresh ideas and innovations will be embraced by the Maths team, in what is a highly collaborative working culture.

Not familiar with the area? We’re 3 minutes from the M62 and the M1; close to Leeds and Sheffield, easily commutable from much of the North of England – within one of the most desirable parts of the country in which to live.

If you believe you have the skills and abilities to take on this role, we’d love to hear from you.

New College Pontefract is an outstanding college, regularly near the top of the UK Sixth Form College results tables and awarded outstanding in all areas by Ofsted in 2014.   Our A Level and BTEC Value Added places us in the top 10% of providers nationally and the large majority of our Advanced Level students proceed to higher education at over 60 different universities, including Oxford and Cambridge. We also provide a small range of Level 2 provision for students wanting to improve their results at that level.

Over the last few years we have invested heavily in new, state-of-the-art teaching blocks and student facilities .  We provide a wide range of extra-curricular activities, including sports and college production; we want New College to be a vibrant community that students and staff will be keen to join.

The college is outward facing and believes strongly in collaboration, being the lead partner in our teaching school, collaborating with over 30 schools and colleges.  The teaching school creates opportunities for staff to  access a range of CPD, to deliver on CPD events and to support colleagues and departments in other schools/colleges.

Whilst we are unapologetically driven to achieve the best possible outcomes for students, we also operate a very supportive environment in which we give every member of the team the help they need to flourish as an outstanding member of staff.  Having been awarded Leaders in Diversity and Investors in People Gold status, we have been recognised for our ongoing dedication to our people management practices, investing in the development and performance of our staff and creating an inclusive environment in which diversity is celebrated.

As an employer, we strongly believe in recognising and rewarding outstanding performance in all our staff and have an excellent reward and recognition scheme in place which includes financial bonuses and lieu days.

There is a warm and friendly atmosphere that exists throughout the college making it an exciting and enjoyable place to study and work.  We have lots of great benefits to offer staff and we always have plenty going on, whether it be our annual Well-being Day, Christmas party , coffee mornings or social gatherings.

Why not consider joining an outstanding team!
