Are you a dynamic and inspirational teacher?

As one of the most successful and over-subscribed, non-selective schools in South West London, we are a truly inclusive and dynamic place to work.

We are looking for an inspirational and effective teacher of French up to A level who can also teach Spanish to KS3 who is keen to join a successful and motivated department. Modern Foreign Language study is highly valued at Saint Cecilia’s and is a consistently high performing department.

In 2022, Saint Cecilia’s maintained is position of one of the highest performing schools in the London Borough of Wandsworth. Despite the national drop in results in 2022/23, the school continued to perform well. At GCSE level, 44.6% of pupils achieved grades 9-7 in French and Spanish and 84.0% achieved grades 9-5. Against the national average of 45.3% of pupils achieving grade 9-5 in both English and Maths, 58.5% of pupils at Saint Cecilia’s achieved this measure. The GCSE Attainment 8 average for pupils was 52.55 while the national average is 46.3. At A-levels, 75% of students achieve A*-B in French and 100% in Spanish.

The successful applicant will be joining a school community that places the continual professional development of staff via collaboration underpinned by educational research at the heart of all that we do.

We welcome applications from experienced teachers and early career teachers.

Located close to Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Club, Saint Cecilia’s is well connected to central London and the West End by exceptional transport links. The nearest underground station is Southfields, which is only 5 minutes from Wimbledon station and 16 minutes from Earls Court, plus numerous bus connections to Clapham Junction and Richmond. The school lies within the Inner London Weighting area, which adds a significant increase to salary.

Are you ready to join a team of dedicated teachers in a Good school which aspires to be Great? Are you ready to contribute towards a Great Curriculum, establish Great Learning and build a culture of Great Professionalism and Great partnerships, all in a caring, Christian ethos?

Whilst candidates must be in sympathy with a voluntary aided Church of England School, a Christian commitment is not essential for this post

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of children, young people, and vulnerable adults, and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All posts are subject to a DBS check. The school will research all successful candidates on social media platforms and the internet, in line with the Government policy of safer recruitment in education. The online checks will be carried out by Social Media Check, an independent agency.

Please note that we do not accept CVs.

The deadline for applications is 9:00am on Tuesday 7th May 2024.
