Ecclesfield School has seen extensive redevelopment and modernisation over the years, with a series of new buildings completed in the early 2000s. The school currently hosts a specialist unit for hearing-impaired children in the local area.

Values and vision

Ecclesfield School is committed to providing an education that works for all students, regardless of academic ability or background. The secondary school seeks to achieve this by providing a deep and engaging curriculum, in which teachers maintain a close relationship with pupils and their families.

Ecclesfield has high expectations of its students. It strives to ensure that older students have a proper understanding of their options, in terms of work or further study, upon leaving school.

Ofsted report

“The proportion of students achieving five GCSE passes at grades A* to C, including English and mathematics, has risen strongly over recent years, as a result of senior leaders’ relentless focus on raising attainment. In 2013, an above average proportion of students achieved the English Baccalaureate. Students’ achievement on a range of BTEC courses is also good.”
