Queensmead is an ‘outstanding’, oversubscribed 11-18 mixed comprehensive school where students achieve highly and display ‘exemplary behaviour’ (OFSTED). Our Performing Arts Department is comprised of experienced and engaging teachers. This post would suit an NQT who is looking to be supported and developed, or an experienced colleague. The Department achieved 100% A*-C last year at KS4 and is looking for someone to help us maintain this success and further develop the department.

In the Performing Arts Department, we have modern facilities housing high quality resources for teaching music, performing arts, dance, drama and music technology across the key stages. Each year a full-scale musical is put on by the department as well as several concerts throughout the year. The school also has a range of musical groups supported by a peripatetic team of musicians.

Values and Vision

Queensmead School strives to maintain a learning environment where students can reach their maximum potential, wherever their skills may lie. Technology is a key part of the education environment, with devices such as visualisers, iPads and Chromebooks a regular classroom feature. There is also a strong emphasis on attendance and punctuality, with these qualities seen as essential to the learning process and academic endeavour.

Queensmead offers students the chance to participate in activities such as music tuition and sports, with facilities including basketball courts, a fitness zone and access to five-a-side football pitches. International experiences offered to secondary students include language development in France, Germany and Spain, trekking excursions in Morocco, and skiing in Italy and Austria.
