The Physical Education Faculty is seeking dynamic and dedicated teacher who has a commitment to learning, a quest for excellence and the ability to inspire students to enjoy and achieve. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic, dedicated and energetic teacher to make a significant contribution to the ongoing development of Physical Education and the wider school.

Applications from both experienced and newly qualified teachers will be welcomed. The ability to teach Maths is desirable.

Physical Education is an extremely popular choice for students within the school, where in addition to National Curriculum P.E students can gain exam qualifications in GCSE PE, BTEC Sport (Level 2 and 3), A Level PE, and CSLA. The successful candidate will be expected to teach across the age and ability range including a number of these examination courses.

Experience in delivery of a wide range of activities may be an advantage and it is expected that the appointee will contribute to our extensive range of extra-curricular activities throughout the year as part of the Swindon Schools alliance.

The Ridgeway School has excellent sporting facilities encompassing The Ridgeway Leisure Centre. The facilities include large and extensive playing fields, 5 court sports hall, 25m swimming pool, gymnasium, fitness suite, 2 squash courts and enclosed hard court area for 5 netball pitches (8 tennis courts). The Ridgeway School has 1200 students, 230 of whom are in the 6th Form. We are committed to ‘Inspiring learners for their future’ through creative and high quality teaching. OFSTED September 2012 found us to be ‘a very friendly and pleasant place to be’ and that ‘students achieve well’. The Ridgeway School & Sixth Form College lies just south of the M4 between junctions 15 & 16, and within easy travelling distance of Bath, Bristol and Reading. The Ridgeway School & Sixth Form College has 1560 students, 200 of whom are in the Sixth Form. The Ridgeway School & Sixth Form College is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form with academy status, located in Wroughton.  

The school was established in 1967 and was the first purpose-built comprehensive school in Wiltshire. We offer GCSEs and BTECs as programmes of study for students, while sixth form students have the option of studying a range of A-levels and further BTECs.
