Job overview

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding, motivated and experienced Teacher of Performing Arts for our students in Primary & Middle School (Early Years to Year 9).

Responsibilities:

  • Teach performing arts to students across Primary and Middle School levels.
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons that cater to the needs of diverse learners.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop the performing arts curriculum.
  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.
  • Support and mentor students in their artistic development.
  • Lead an after-school activity of your choice during either the Autumn or Spring term.
  • Support and be a team player in taking on additional responsibilities, such as lunchtime supervision, accompanying excursions (including overnight trips), chalet events, hikes/cycles. Attending Ski events and outdoor educational activities are part of a JFK teacher’s responsibilities. At JFK education and learning happens in and out of the classroom.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to teach across the age range.
  • Uphold the JFK Core Values of Adaptability, Morality, Resilience, Enquiry, Cooperation, Communication, Thoughtfulness, and Respect.

Requirements:

  • Relevant teaching qualification and registration.
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching performing arts to Primary and Middle School students.
  • Ability to build rapport and maintain positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to participate in school activities outside of regular teaching hours.
  • Ability to drive a minibus is an advantage.
  • Must be an EU/Swiss national due to strict Swiss working permit regulations.

 

Staff at the school take on many roles such as lunchtime supervision, after school activities, accompanying excursions (including overnight), chalet events and hikes/cycles. In line with all teachers at JFK, the successful applicant would be expected to lead an after-school activity of their choosing during either the Autumn or Spring term. Staff know all of the students across the school and are comfortable teaching across the age range. 

All staff are expected to exhibit the JFK Core Values of Adaptability, Morality, Resilience, Enquiry, Cooperation, Communication, Thoughtfulness and Respect. The ability to drive a minibus would be an advantage. References will be taken from 2 sources including your current employer and you must be able to provide evidence of your teaching qualification, registration and additional qualifications. If it is  possible please submit an online portfolio of previous musical productions, concerts, and activities to support your application.

John F. Kennedy International School is a co-educational English-language boarding and day school for children ages 2.5 to 14, culminating in the Year 9 (Grade 8). The growing student body is made up of around 100 students from over twenty different countries.

Boarding enrolment is limited to 25 students in order to maintain first-rate quality of care in our family-like environment.
