Job overview

The King John School is a heavily oversubscribed 11-18 mixed comprehensive of 1900 students, of which 350 are in the sixth form. In 2013 we were one of the highest performing schools in the country and achieved our highest ever average point score at A level. By April 2012 Mathematics GCSE results reached 90% A*-C.

The school enjoys an excellent reputation, and has been graded at the end of September 2013 as ‘Outstanding’ across all key areas, based on the new Ofsted Criteria. The school enjoys good staff retention and is wholly committed to continued professional development. To this end, all children of appointed teaching staff are eligible to apply for an automatic place at King John School.

We now wish to recruit an outstanding teacher of Philosophy/Ethics to join our supportive and highly effective faculty on a part time basis. If you feel you have a passion for teaching Philosophy and Ethics and possess a creative approach to teaching, then we would love to hear from you.

The school has an excellent NQT programme.

A very warm welcome to The King John School, a large, mixed comprehensive with a well-established sixth form.

The school was created in 1949, and since then has served the ever-growing communities of Thundersley and Benfleet, as well as welcoming students from further afield. It is a popular, oversubscribed school where students’ very high attendance and levels of achievement reflect their commitment and enjoyment of school life.
