Peter Symonds is located in Winchester, Hampshire. It is a vibrant sixth form college which has been rated by Ofsted as ‘outstanding’ in every respect. With sixth form students from some 150 schools, Peter Symonds is a sizable community and you will be joining a thriving department of six teachers and two technicians. Our unofficial College motto has long been ‘Counting in Ones’ and we work hard to make this a supportive and friendly place to study, with every student treated as an individual. Not only is this at the heart of our work with our students, but we also strive to support and value our staff in the same way.
The department delivers AS and A2 Physics and you will also have responsibility for a tutor group. Facilities within the department are extremely good. The Physics department is housed in dedicated refurbished accommodation, comprising four laboratories, a preparation room, a student project room and a staff workroom. All four laboratories are well equipped and have overhead data projectors and interactive whiteboards. We have sets of notebook computers for use in class, whilst many other PCs are available in the College Learning Resources Centre. We are looking for an enthusiastic teacher to join the team and would welcome applications from both newly qualified and experienced candidates with a degree in Physics or a related subject.

About Peter Symonds College
Peter Symonds College is a sixth form provider in Winchester, Hampshire with approximately 4,000 students aged 16-19, the majority of whom are studying A level. There is also a thriving adult provision with around 3,000 enrolments each year, ranging from leisure to HE and including teacher training. The College has two co-educational boarding houses accommodating over 70 students, including those from the Falklands Islands overseas territory.
The town of Winchester has a population of 45,000, and is known for its landmark cathedral and for an exceptional range of cultural activities. It is frequently cited in surveys as one of the best places to live in the UK. The College is a five minute walk from Winchester rail station.

A large number of our students each year, usually around fifty, are able to secure places at the prestigious Oxford and Cambridge Universities.
