Job overview

2 x 1.0 FTE

We wish to appoint two outstanding teachers of Science to join our Science Faculty from September, or NQT’s with the potential to develop into outstanding teachers. In our school we believe that students need a science curriculum that is rich, varied and suitably challenging. We therefore need our science teachers to teach lessons that are exciting, engaging and inclusive. The successful candidates will be expected to teach all core sciences up to and including GCSE and either A’ level chemistry or A’ level physics.

The Wensleydale School and Sixth Form, Leyburn is an 11-19 school serving one of the largest and most beautiful catchment areas in the country. We are extremely proud of all our students. They are hard-working, well-disciplined and extremely polite. Our governors, parents and the wider community share our view.

We therefore want the most dedicated, ambitious and dynamic teachers to help us provide the very best experience of education. We are equally concerned that our students develop a range of long-lasting academic, employability and social skills.

In our most recent inspection we were judged to be a ‘Good’ school by Ofsted. This is an exciting opportunity to join our school on its journey to becoming outstanding.

Ofsted

“This is a good and continuously improving school. Some aspects of this school’s work are outstanding, particularly the drive to engage all students, parents and carers, staff and governors in making further improvements. Overall, leadership and management are very effective, with senior leaders and managers very aware of the strengths and areas for future development. Those students with identified learning needs are also making good overall progress, with many gaining a number of vocationally orientated awards, alongside the more traditional accreditation of GCSE”
