Job overview

We are seeking to appoint a Science teacher to join a successful faculty in this vibrant 11-18 co-educational Academy, with 1000 on roll, and 200 in the sixth form.  Required for September 2015, an enthusiastic, committed and ambitious teacher to teach across the age and ability range and with the specialist knowledge to teach up to A-level.  Candidates should be passionate about Science and believe in the ability of all students to learn and make progress.  Applications are welcomed from all three Science specialisms.

A comprehensive programme of support and training will be made available to the successful applicant.  Any NQT appointed will be supported with a reduced timetable, a mentor and a strong commitment to his/her professional development.

The Science faculty is a strong, popular, successful and well led area of the school which benefits from modern facilities.  A popular mix of academic and applied courses are taught at KS4 and KS5, ensuring that all students enjoy science and make excellent progress.

Science is taught in Year 7 and 8 which is jointly planned and lead by the Heads of the three science subjects and the Head of Faculty.  The three disciplines are taught separately from Year 9 to top sets going on to take Triple Science GCSE.  The post would include teaching classes in all year groups.  Very good numbers of students opt for Science subjects at A-level with many students applying successfully to good university science courses.

Science facilities are very good with modern fully equipped specialist laboratories, excellent technical support, innovative ICT facilities and Interactive White Boards in most laboratories.

If you are passionate about helping students of all abilities to achieve their full potential, whilst taking opportunities to further develop your own skills and practice, then we would be very pleased to hear from you.

Further information and an application form can be obtained on our website or from the Headteacher's PA.
