Job overview

We are seeking to appoint a strong classroom practitioner who can inspire students, who has excellent subject knowledge and the ability to make learning exciting leading to examination success. This fixed term post is suitable for either an experienced or Newly Qualified Teacher.

The appointed person will teach all Science subjects at Key Stage 3, with some specialism at Key Stage 4 and contribute to a high performing faculty.

The Science faculty occupies 4 modern laboratories, a demonstration lab and dedicated classrooms, with a preparation room staff room and resources area. There is a very strong and supportive team spirit as well as a readiness to engage in professional development which creates a clear faculty ethos.

The school has excellent professional development and this vacancy offers an exciting opportunity to join a key faculty in this highly successful and oversubscribed school.

Testbourne is a thriving 11-16 comprehensive school with a record of very good academic achievement. 75% of pupils achieved 5+ A*-C grades including English and Maths in 2014. With 80% of students achieving A*-C grades first entry Mathematics (36.1% achieving A*)The school serves the town of Whitchurch and the surrounding area and is within easy reach of Winchester, Newbury, Basingstoke and Southampton with good transport links to the M3 and A34.
