An exciting opportunity has arisen for the post of Teacher of Science at Malet Lambert. We are looking for a highly-motivated, forward-thinking and passionate individual to facilitate and encourage learning which enables pupils to achieve high standards to share and support the corporate responsibility for the well-being, education and discipline of all pupils. Malet Lambert is one of the top performing schools in Hull, where our commitment to pastoral care underpins the high expectations that we have of both pupils and staff. With a long and proud history, dating back to 1932, Malet Lambert was once a grammar school, becoming a comprehensive school in 1968. We put the needs of individual pupils at the heart of everything we do and we pride ourselves on having high aspirations, ensuring our pupils meet their potential by creating a safe, yet vibrant learning environment, which sees first class teaching and learning every single day. We are very fortunate to have such a caring, skilled and dedicated set of teachers, support staff and governors here at Malet Lambert; ultimate professionals who are dedicated to the pupils.

2023 saw us achieve a ‘Good’ Ofsted rating. As a school, we are dedicated to providing a great teacher in every classroom and are committed to high-quality, collective teacher development. This helps us to reduce the replication of effort and helps all teachers to thrive in our setting. We do this by prioritising the continuing development of our staff. This comes in a variety of forms: professional subject-specific development delivered in department time; INSET days as well as through CPD opportunities across The Education Alliance.

Within The Education Alliance Multi Academy Trust, there are lots of opportunities for collaboration and also further opportunities to develop and progress. As a trust, we are here to make great schools and happier, stronger communities so that people have better lives. For too long in many schools, staff have been asked to choose between being seen as good at their job and being a good mum, dad, partner, son, daughter or friend. We are doing everything we can to support our staff to balance the demands of their jobs and those at home.

To support this, we:

  •  Trust our staff to plan, prepare and assess at the best time for them, allowing them to go off-site in their PPA
  •  Have centralised our Behaviour Policy so teachers are freed up from supervising detentions
  • Demand ethical leadership built on professional trust
  •  Reject fads and ensure our CPD is evidence-informed and predominantly subject specific
  • Do not expect staff to respond to emails outside normal working hours

The closing date for applications is 9am, Monday 8 April 2024 and it is anticipated that interviews will be held the following week.

Malet Lambert is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Clearance from the Disclosure and Barring Service is required prior to appointment.

The school’s Strategic Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy can be accessed here and the Education Alliance’s Child Protection Policy can be accessed here.

Thank you for your interest in our school.

Malet Lambert has a long and proud history, dating back to 1932. Once a grammar school, it became a community comprehensive school in 1968 and it continues to be true to the word ‘comprehensive’ some 50 years later.

From our thorough transition process in Year 6 through to the close mentoring and support for our pupils taking public examinations in Year 11, we put the needs of individual pupils at the heart of everything we do. At Malet Lambert, we pride ourselves upon having high aspirations. These will ensure that all of our pupils meet their potential by creating a safe, yet vibrant learning environment, which sees first class teaching and learning every single day.

We are very fortunate to have such a caring, skilled and dedicated set of teachers, support staff and governors here at Malet Lambert; ultimate professionals who are dedicated to the pupils.

Having become part of The Education Alliance (TEAL) in 2016, this has only reinforced the support for our pupils further, by allowing us to work in partnership with other successful schools.

2018 saw us achieve a ‘Good’ Ofsted grading under the new criteria, as well as becoming an Inclusion Quality Mark Flagship School - the only one in the region.

After looking through our website, please feel free to come and see us, in order that we can show you first-hand what we have to offer the pupils of this wonderful community.

If you wish to take advantage of this, please contact my PA, Beverley Haggarty, Beverley.Haggarty@maletlambert.hull.sch.uk or 01482 374211.

I look forward to meeting you.
