Job overview

We are hoping to appoint an outstanding, highly motivated, enthusiastic and innovative teacher of Science to join our growing, dynamic and supportive school. We are looking for someone who is committed to securing high standards and raising academic attainment. Ability to teach Physics would be a strong advantage and there may be the opportunity for part time hours if required. Here at Horsforth School, we aim to create opportunities and support achievement for our students and colleagues alike.

Join us and you will be part of a fantastic science department with a strong team ethos. We believe in working collaboratively, sharing ideas and supporting each other to achieve great things as we develop innovative teaching and learning strategies. We are a creative forward thinking department, in other words, there’s never been a better time to join us. This would be an ideal opportunity for an experienced colleague who can teach across the ability range at KS3, KS4 and KS5. A real interest in developing teaching and learning is also important.

Success is seen throughout our ambitious and consistently oversubscribed 11-19 school, which enjoys strong community and international links. Our commitment to excellence in education is recognised nationally. Ofsted describe us as a ‘good school with outstanding features’. Results in 2014 were exceptional with 80% of our students achieving A* - C inc. E / M at GCSE and 61% graded A* - B at A2.

For our 1400 students, Horsforth School provides an engaging environment of discovery and growth. For our colleagues too, this setting offers some great benefits. Located in north-west Leeds, the school is just five miles from the city centre with its thriving retail, leisure and cultural facilities, yet on the edge of open countryside. York, Harrogate and the Dales are within easy reach.
