For September 2015, we are seeking to appoint a forward-looking individual with drive, character and excellent subject knowledge to join our experienced and highly successful Science Department as Teacher of Science.

This post offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a unique and highly successful College. In September 2004, we moved into a brand new school, which was built in partnership under the PFI scheme. Our state of the art facilities offer opportunities for innovative teaching and an exciting learning environment for all our students, including interactive whiteboards in all classrooms

Burnside College has an excellent reputation both for its academic results and for its commitment to inclusion. We are very proud of our achievements and in our most recent Ofsted Inspection (October 2013), we were deemed to be “Good with many significant Outstanding features”

You will need to be an enthusiastic, motivated and inspirational teacher who is able to engage all learners. We require a scientist of any specialism (with the possibility of offering A-level teaching) who is keen to help develop and extend their expertise as a teacher and work with a team of committed staff to improve outcomes for young people. There will be an expectation that you can teach across all key stages and teach mainly within your specialism but also show some flexibility.

At Burnside our aim is simple, to be the best that we can be, both as individuals and as a community.  We all work together to make our college the best it can be and share  decisions about how to reach our potential.  We believe in the strength  and consistency of our three core values: pride, respect and achievement.

Pride: we take pride in all that we do, our work, the way that we present ourselves, and our actions.

Respect: we respect the thoughts, beliefs and personal qualities of those around us and act  with kindness and tolerance, treating one another in a way that accepts  that we are individuals and have separate thoughts, feelings and needs.

Achievement: we are resilient and determined; we don’t give up when we encounter problems we  always try our best.  We seek to be the best we can both personally and  academically.
