Job overview

We are looking for a strong Science Teacher to take on deputy leadership responsibility of a successful Science department from September 2015 or as soon as possible thereafter. Interested candidates will have experience of leading and managing change, extensive subject knowledge and the required passion and enthusiasm to develop both themselves and the department moving forward.

The areas of responsibility will include:

  • Developing a curriculum vision and plans that help the Academy adapt to coming changes within provision in their curriculum area;
  • Regularly tracking student data on SISRA (and other department tracking systems) and implementing appropriate interventions to tackle underachievement;
  • Challenging and supporting teachers within the department to ensure there is high quality teaching and learning in classrooms in every subject, every lesson, every day.

The Ideal Candidate will have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status;
  • Experience of leading and managing team(s) in the development and successful implementation of strategic objectives;
  • Ability to motivate, engage and enthuse learners.
