Our opportunity:

We are seeking to appoint an ambitious, highly motivated and specialist teacher of science to support our vision to transform the lives of young people in North Sheffield. Applied Science at levels 2 and 3 are extremely popular subjects, with high proportions of learners progressing into higher education and related careers. We also offer Biology at GCSE to support students to access nursing and midwifery courses at university.

 

We are looking for someone who:

·        is an inspirational teacher with a strong occupational/ academic background

·        has the ambition to develop their career through Continuing Professional Development

·        can work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the success of the department and the sixth form on our journey to ‘Outstanding’

·        can use their expertise and industry experience to deliver a high-quality curriculum  

·        can develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours of our learners in readiness for their next steps into higher education, training and employment

·        has a proven track record of achieving good or outstanding results, though we also welcome applications from ECTs

Longley Park Sixth Form is an ambitious and successful 16-19 Academy based in North East Sheffield and part of Brigantia Learning Trust.

Offering A Level and vocational programmes from Level 1 to 3, we offer a genuinely inclusive curriculum, supporting students to realise their aspirations and achieve remarkable outcomes.  We are especially proud of our diverse and inclusive learning environment, one which promotes challenge, independence and individuality.

Our expectations reflect our commitment to seeing our diverse cohort of learners flourish as hardworking, respectful and successful young people. The Academy has invested significantly in facilities to support student independence and ownership of learning. Students are challenged and supported to develop the skills they need to thrive in the future, which is reflected in the wide ranging destinations taken by our students at the end of study.

Our status as a Google Sixth Form allows us to work collaboratively with colleagues and students alike and we remain at the forefront of online learning technologies. Professional Development is valued and we actively encourage staff to participate and lead events to support colleagues both within the Sixth Form and the wider Trust.
