The Sholing Technology College is a mixed, secondary comprehensive, non-denominational secondary school without sixth form situated in Sholing, Southampton. It is a community state school that partners with Portswood Teaching School Alliance, the Wildern Partnership SCITT and Southampton University Partnership Alliance to provide the best opportunities for its students. An average size for a secondary school, the school will provide 1,144 places for secondary school students between the ages of 11-16, when fully subscribed, with 527 currently on roll.

The school building originally housed boys-only and girls-only schools (including Sholing Middle Road Girls’ School) before becoming the co-educational establishment it is today.

Values and Vision

A school of high aspiration that always places high expectations upon its students, The Sholing Technology College uses the motto “striving excellence” to define its ethos. It is a school that helps its students recognise the enjoyment in learning to help them find the motivation to achieve.

Southampton City Council has commented on significant improvement taking place even since the last Ofsted inspection in May 2016, including an observation that “the school [was] improving strongly and securely”.

Ofsted

“Pupils progress well in food technology, history and physical education; this is because of better teaching. Recent initiatives offer improved support to vulnerable pupils and their families. There are signs that the engagement and attendance of vulnerable pupils are improving as a result. Leaders’ strong working relationships with local primary schools have improved pupils’ transition arrangements from primary into secondary school.”
