Situated in the beautiful countryside of East Hampshire, Alton College is an exceptional place to work and study. It is one of the first modern purpose built Sixth Form Colleges and the first to be awarded Outstanding Ofsted status in three consecutive inspections. The College is one of Hampshire’s top performing colleges, providing an inspiring and challenging bridge between school and Higher Education or employment. Alton College offers a wide choice of high quality A level and vocational courses taught by experienced, specialist staff in a dynamic environment on a modern, university-style campus with industry standard facilities.

Our mission is to provide high quality education and training in an inclusive, supportive and stimulating environment, enabling young people, adults and our communities to achieve their potential, preparing them for a successful future. Academic success is at the core of our mission, but equally important is the development of students’ sense of self and independence. The College is committed to providing a wide-ranging programme of enrichments outside of the classroom involving extra-curricular activities, trips and study visits abroad. The programme offers students the opportunity to enhance skills and personal qualities to give them an edge when applying to university or employment.

In our continued commitment to improving students’ learning, the College has introduced a fresh, innovative approach to timetabling, grounded in academic research and following international models to enable the best learning environment for young people. The College day now provides up to 50 hours more teaching time that other sixth forms and lessons start at 10am as academic research shows students learn best later in the day. The day consists of two longer lessons which provide the opportunity for more dynamic and in-depth learning with lots of interesting activities and greater support.
