Richard Coates is a wonderful place to work. We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and well organised Teaching Assistant with good interpersonal skills to join our team who is committed to the ethos and vision of the school.

You will spend a large proportion of your time supporting a pupil in Year 6 with Autism, as well as supporting pupils with a range of abilities across the year group. Should the needs of specific pupils change/cease then so will your contract of employment.

The pupils’ behaviour is exemplary (Ofsted 2013) and the staff are a dedicated team of professionals who work closely and supportively with each other. The school is a large middle school of 476 pupils located in Ponteland on the outskirts of Newcastle upon Tyne and has excellent public transport links, yet it enjoys the countryside benefits of being located within the picturesque county of rural Northumberland.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff to share this commitment. An enhanced DBS disclosure is required for this post as well as undertaking any training that is required for the role.

Further information about the school can be found on our website.

An application pack, including an application form, is available to download from apply link below.

Completed application forms should be returned to school by 9am on Monday 17 August 2015.

Visions and value

The school’s motto is, ‘Let your light shine’. It aims to help every student reach their full potential academically, socially and personally and celebrate their unique talents. This is to be done in a happy, caring Christian community which celebrates every achievement. It promotes values of respect for everyone within the school and the outer community and to teach each child to value the environment in which they live.

The school uses the national curriculum, which is broad and balanced and easily applies to all students, of different learning abilities. The curriculum focuses on the core subjects but also offers art, computing, geography, history, languages, music, P.E., R.E. and technology. They also have a wide array of extra-curricular activities and field trips which cater to a variety of subjects, talents and hobbies.

Ofsted

“Pupils are immensely proud of their school and their behaviour is exemplary. Teachers forge strong, positive relationships with pupils and use praise effectively so that pupils thrive in an atmosphere where there are high levels of mutual respect. Strong moral and Christian values permeate the work of the school with the well-being of individual pupils at the heart of it. This atmosphere makes a strong contribution to pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.”
