Rainbow International School is a coeducational 2 – 18 years day and boarding school in Kampala, Uganda. As the most established, reputable and largest International school in the country, we deliver the EYFS and IPC curricula in the Primary section, English National curriculum at Key Stage 3 and Cambridge IGCSE and Advanced Level in Key Stages 4 and 5. We also offer BTEC Level 3 courses as an alternative pathway to University.

 The Post:

We are looking for an experienced University and Career Guidance Advisor to guide and support students and parents on the university application process and process applications. We require someone who is familiar with the admissions systems of the UK, US and Canada, but experience with other countries is desirable.

The successful candidate will lead presentations and workshops for students, parents and teachers, and oversee the production of essays, personal statements and letters of recommendations.

We would like to appoint someone who has a demonstrable record of assisting students to gain admission to the best universities worldwide, as well as assisting them in gaining scholarships.

The role will also involve organising university fairs and providing younger students with lessons in careers. A working knowledge of A Levels, BTEC and BridgeU is preferred, but not essential. However, strong organisational and communication skills, and the ability to prioritise their workload is necessary. 

A candidate with the ability to teach a second subject (either Art, History or English) is preferred.

Experience:

·       Be passionate and committed 

·       be an experienced University and Career guidance advisor holding a relevant educational degree and professional qualification or certification

·       Have experience in advising students on the admissions process across Europe, USA, Canada and UK

·       A working knowledge of Google Apps and the confidence to work with IT.

·       Ability to teach Secondary Art, History or English is preferred, but not essential

 

We require teachers who are:

  • In possession of a minimum of three years teaching experience in the UK or overseas in a British curriculum school
  • Dedicated practitioners who strive to provide the very best learning opportunities they can for their students
  • Professional both in their conduct and appearance and fully committed to the life of the school (including being fully involved in enrichment/extra-curricular activities)
  • Open minded and flexible, willing to contribute ideas and fully support the strategic vision of the school
  • Hardworking, with the desire to make a difference and go the extra mile

 Qualifications:

  • B.Ed. / PGCE / QTS in the relevant subject area or Educated to degree level together with a Postgraduate degree or PGDE/PGCE (essential), with the ability to teach either Art, History or English
  • Qualifications related to supporting students with career advice and guidance
