Responsible to: Principal

The role of Vice Principal is crucial in assisting the Principal in the strategic and operational management, development and leadership of the Academy. You will be an innovative and motivational leader who will be involved in every aspect of Academy business. BOA is a relatively new Academy but is already oversubscribed and has rapidly gained a reputation as a centre of excellence for the arts. We are seeking to recruit an energetic, creative, highly motivated and effective leader to build on our successes so far.

The person we seek to appoint will have a proven track record of raising achievement and strong leadership, management and interpersonal skills. It goes without saying that he/she will be an outstanding classroom practitioner. Our overriding requirement is to appoint someone with the capacity to become an excellent leader, the specific responsibilities are flexible and will be negotiated with the successful candidate.

Main Purpose

  • Assisting the Principal in the day to day leadership of BOA.
  • Deputising for the Principal and undertaking any professional duties of the Principal, to the extent required by the Principal or the Governing Body.
  • To promote the vision, values and ethos of the Academy.
  • Taking lead responsibility for a number of whole school activities, these will be by negotiation after appointment.

About BOA Creative, Digital and Performing Arts Academy

BOA Creative, Digital and Performing Arts Academy is a state-funded, high-performing 14 to 19 academy specialising in creative, digital and performing arts. The brand-new landmark building, located at the hub of the digital and creative industries in the West Midlands, opened September 2011. It has superb facilities for academic, vocational and extra-curricular activities. BOA is 100% selective, based on aptitude, and as a result, it is unique in its admissions criteria.

Whilst students have talent in their chosen pathway subjects, there is a full range of academic ability. Alongside their vocational courses, students in Year 10 and 11 study an additional eight GCSE’s including English, Maths and Science. In Year 12 and 13 students can opt to study one or two additional A Levels.
