Job overview

Due to the forthcoming retirement of our Vice Principal, a first-class opportunity has arisen to join an ambitious, dynamic and outstanding FE/HE college management team in the south west of England. South Devon College is an exceptional college with world-class facilities and a top-performing, learner-focused culture. We are a £30m, outstanding (Ofsted) educational institution, in good financial health and have recently received excellent judgements in a pilot inspection against Ofsted’s new common inspection framework.

South Devon College is seeking a visionary and experienced curriculum leader who is a motivator and inspirational role-model for staff, able to sustain and further shape our current outstanding provision and learner focus. Candidates must demonstrate exceptional ability to respond to and manage dynamic organisational change, substantial experience in driving forward innovation in operations & processes and growth in activity with a track record in developing, promoting and modelling best practice in the learning and skills sector. Reporting directly to the Principal, the post-holder will have key strategic and operational responsibility for Teaching, Learning and Assessment, Curriculum, Quality, CPD and the learner experience across the college. Line management responsibility will include Assistant Principals and College Manager posts.

A highly motivated, self-initiating FE leader, with measurable experience of current inspection frameworks, improving standards, successful performance management and a successful track record in staff development, you will thrive in a fast-paced, inclusive but decisive team environment and bring enthusiasm, dedication and innovation to the college’s ambition to continue its outstanding provision for our local communities. This is a fantastic leadership opportunity in an exceptionally high-performing college. For the right person, this post will offer rich variety, a stimulating environment, high-level challenge and significant potential to progress further. This is a senior post-holder appointment and the salary is commensurate with the seniority of the post.
