Job overview

Responsibilities

Applications are invited for a Vice Principal to join a Senior Leadership team in August 2015 consisting of: Principal, 3 Vice Principals, 5 Senior Leaders and a Business Manager. The main focus of the role is to lead and provide oversight of the Senior School (Years 12 and 13) in addition to a range of whole school responsibilities. The Vice Principal appointment is part of a restructuring of the Senior Leadership Team and means that there is flexibility around the areas of whole school responsibility to be taken up by the successful candidate. These areas will be explored through the application process and agreed with the successful candidate on appointment.

Sha Tin College is well established and has an outstanding reputation: expectations are understandably high from a student, parent and staff perspective. Essential elements of the person specification will include; applicants currently working within senior leadership teams in 11-18 schools; applicants with experience in high performing IB school/s; and individuals who are outstanding teachers and leaders with a genuine and natural people-centred approach. Given the holistic nature of the responsibility this post will suit colleagues who have leadership experience in both departmental and pastoral/guidance and achievement capacities.

In leading the Senior School, the successful VP will work closely with the Head of Section (Years 12 and 13). The Head of Section is a Senior Leader and part of the Senior Leadership Team and they currently lead the work of the Heads and Deputy Heads of Years 12 and 13.

Requirements

The attached document, SHA TIN COLLEGE – LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT STRUCTURE – AUGUST 2015 provides a more detailed and visual explanation of the new structure and indicates some of the whole school responsibilities to be shared across the Senior Leadership Team. Additional information about the school and life at Sha Tin College can be found at http://www.shatincollege.edu.hk/

Applicants should complete the ESF application form and outline their approach and philosophy in their supporting letter. It would be useful for applicants to indicate particular areas of interest and expertise in relation to potential whole school responsibilities.

The closing date for applications is 28th April and longlist interviews will take place on 30th April. May 5th and 6th have been scheduled for subsequently shortlisted candidates and will take place in Hong Kong.

Closing Date: 28 Apr 2015
