Required for September 2015 by Woodkirk Academy, an outstanding leader and manager to complete our Senior Leadership Team of Principal and eight Vice Principals (currently six). These posts have arisen due to retirement of the existing Headteacher and promotion of the current Deputy Headteacher to the post of Principal.

This position is open to either an existing senior leader or an experienced middle leader who can demonstrate a proven track record in effective leadership and management within school. This post offers an excellent opportunity to develop your career at a Woodkirk as it enters an exciting new phase. Woodkirk is in the process of forming a Multi-Academy Trust in equal partnership with three local primary schools and is approved to become a sponsor academy. We are also a leading partner in the Leeds Teaching Schools Alliance which provides additional opportunities for senior leaders to work in partnership with four other successful high schools and beyond.

Woodkirk Academy is a thriving and popular 11-18 mixed comprehensive school with excellent student behaviour. Our latest Ofsted report, November 2013 quoted ‘Around the academy, students’ behaviour is always good and often exemplary and the quality of care and quality of pastoral care and welfare arrangements are outstanding’. We aim to provide a safe, happy and ordered environment where all our young people have the maximum opportunities to fully develop their individual skills and abilities. We have an excellent record in academic, intellectual, social and sporting, musical, dramatic and community developments. Our popularity and community standing continues to grow annually and we are second to none in the local area. We are proud to reflect traditional values but also employ the best of modern practice and teaching delivered by well qualified, experienced and enthusiastic staff. The successful candidate can look forward to becoming a valuable member of a well-respected and effective senior leadership team at one of the top performing schools in the area. As such we seek to recruit an experienced, highly committed, outstanding leader and manager to undertake this role to help shape the developments within Woodkirk Academy.

The Governors anticipate appointing two Vice Principals to add experience to the team in the following areas:

  • Assessment, recording and reporting
  • Target setting and progress data
  • Examinations
  • Data Analysis
  • Finance and income generation
  • Quality Assurance
  • ICT infrastructure and new technologies (curriculum, support functions and social media)
  • Partnerships, community links and employer engagement including marketing and promotion.
  • Main school and/or Sixth Form Improvement and Evaluation.
  • Line management of agreed departments
