This is an exciting opportunity for an innovative Vice Principal to join the Strategic Leadership Team here and contribute to William Hulme’s Grammar School becoming a beacon of excellence. The Vice Principal of the Secondary Phase will share our commitment to providing the very best educational opportunities in all aspects of school life for our students.

We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in one of the following areas:

  • Behaviour, Attendance and Safeguarding


The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate that they:

  • Are an outstanding teacher, committed to raising standards of achievement for all students, and can demonstrate outstanding pupil progress
  • Keep the children at the heart of the teaching and learning process
  • Have a strong understanding of assessment and experience of tracking and monitoring of standards across all phases
  • Are principled, resilient and will lead by example
  • Have energy, enthusiasm, excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Have and maintain excellent staff relations, recognising, utilising and developing the skills of all staff
  • Have a proven track record of being a firm and fair line manager with the ability to hold others to account
  • Are committed to working in partnership with all those involved in the life of the school
  • Will take an active part in all aspects of school life

William Hulme’s Grammar School is the second most over-subscribed school in Manchester and one of the most successful comprehensive schools in the country. WHGS is an all-through (3-18) Academy of over 1450 pupils with a wide range of abilities, ethnicities and backgrounds.

The Academy has a relatively new Sixth Form Centre, a two-form entry Primary Phase and has specialist rooms in the Secondary Phase, including fully equipped science labs, a library, ICT resource centre, music practice rooms, design, technology and art rooms.  There is also a sports hall with changing facilities, along with full kitchen and dining facilities in the Primary, Secondary and Sixth Form.

William Hulme’s Grammar School is a vibrant, multicultural school that welcomes children from all backgrounds and beliefs.
