Volunteer Impact Officer / School Account Executive - Overview of role
The Volunteer Impact Officer / School Account Executive is based the primary link between school and City Year UK. The Volunteer Impact Officer / School Account Executive plays a key role in the selection, management, training and retention of corps members and has pastoral oversight for the team and their relationships with those they come into contact with i.e. children, parents, education professionals, funders and other stakeholders. The Volunteer Impact Officer / School Account Executive will monitor and evaluate the progress of City Year corps throughout their service year.

The Volunteer Impact Officer / School Account Executive is a school-based post Monday to Thursday and is location/office based on Fridays and during school holidays. The Volunteer Impact Officer / School Account Executive reports to an office-based line manager and is responsible for the line management of up to 16 full-time school-based volunteers.

Volunteer Impact Officer / School Account Executive - Primary responsibilities

  • Leadership and coordination of the City Year team of volunteers service year and clearly communicating expectations to all those involved.
  • Ensure the fidelity of the City Year model is implemented.
  • Build a long term relationship with the school.  Understand school’s needs and objectives and liaise closely with staff throughout the year. Anticipate and identify opportunities to implement City Year initiatives that meet the objectives of our school partnership agreement.
  • Negotiate with school about the details of contract renewal - under instruction and direction from City Year’s Head of School Relationships.  Contribute to and develop the partnership with school.
  • Leadership and coordination of the City Year team’s service year and clearly communicating expectations to all those involved.
  • Monitor, evaluate and report on the effectiveness of City Year’s impact in school in a timely and complete manner.  Ensure that City Year team projects and initiatives are completed to a high standard, on time and on budget (if applicable).

Volunteer Impact Officer / School Account Executive - You will

  • Have a passion for education, children and young people with good experience of working in a school setting;
  • Understand school leadership priorities and represent City Year in this context
  • Be Analytical and methodical in your approach to problem solving
  • Monitor, evaluate and report City Year’s impact on the development of corps members - under instruction and direction from City Year’s Head of Training and Careers.
  • Have supervisory or line management experience and the ability to provide guidance to less experienced staff
  • Train, support and develop corps members in school service, preparation for their employability beyond City Year, personal development and civic leadership.

Volunteer Impact Officer / School Account Executive - You will receive

  • Up to 5% employer pension contributions after 6 months’ probation
  • 40 days per annum to be taken during school holidays
