In World Languages we are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed French &/or Spanish teacher to contribute to our Languages Department.  The ability to offer a second language (preferably Spanish or French) would also be highly desirable. All students across the school follow a language learning programme from Nursery to IGCSE level.  The successful candidate will be expected to teach across the school which could include classes in the Primary Years.  For individuals eager to expand their expertise to Primary classes, we offer comprehensive training and professional development. The ideal candidate will also have a proven track record in teaching IGCSE and A Level or similar level courses.  All teachers are also encouraged to contribute to the wider life of the school through clubs, trips or other activities. 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Foster a love of language learning in children 
  • Teach French or Spanish to A Level and university entrance 
  • Work closely with subject leader to develop the languages curriculum
  • Model excellent practice within the department
  • Contribute to wider provision in the school to promote the study of languages


Person Specifications:

  • Qualified teacher with a genuine passion for the subject
  • Ability to share energy and infectious enthusiasm for learning with students
  • Experience of teaching UK syllabus IGCSE and A Level or willingness to learn this
  • Excellent communication skills and be willing to adapt to the demands of an international school
  • Have the ability to manage a diverse and demanding workload across all levels of our school
  • An interest in and understanding of how children learn a foreign language
  • The enthusiasm to work with staff of all year groups to promote these subjects throughout the school
  • Flexible and able to use own initiative
  • Well organised with good time management skills
  • Good ICT skills and ability to make good use of learning technologies and platforms in the classroom
  • Ability to offer Spanish or French at least to Middle School would be highly desirable
  • International perspective 
  • Knowledge of IB and/or English National Curriculum including at Key Stages 4 and 5 or willingness to learn

  • Generous salary commensurate with experience (Range: $58,887 - $98,138 for qualified teachers)
