Job overview

The Bank End and Hunningley Primary Partnership, building a better future for all

About us:

Worsbrough Bank End Primary and Hunningley Primary work closely in partnership together because both schools have a strong passion for giving children in the Kendray/Worsbrough area of Barnsley a fighting chance to have the future equal to others in less deprived areas. Because of this vision we seek to provide a provision that enables children to ‘catch up’ from very low starting points and prepare them for every stage of their learning journey. We have recently developed our partnership further by working alongside Barnsley Academy and now have a stronger influence on children’s lives from age 3 to age 18.

Opportunities:

In our partnership currently, we have a post in Key Stage 2 to join our amazing teachers at Worsbrough Bank End. We have strong leadership in this phase and anyone joining this team will be given support to develop and continuing professional development through well managed training and moderation meetings in the individual schools and the primary partnership.

About you:
Our ideal candidate will:

  • Be committed to providing all children with a ‘hands on’ curriculum full of purpose and experiences
  • Be excellent classroom practitioners with a creative outlook
  • Be committed to the highest possible levels of achievement for all pupils, have a ‘no excuse’ philosophy on inclusion
  • Have energy and determination to make a difference
  • Be able to work as a team member to learn, grow and lead as a professional

Essential Qualifications: QTS and relevant experience or specialism in KS2, NQTs welcomed to apply.

We very warmly welcome visits to the schools where you can meet with the Executive Headteacher, Head of School and most importantly, our amazing children. Please email Donna Barker to make an appointment at d.barker@bankend.org

Application forms and further details can be obtained by contacting the school on 01226 282549 or email l.higgins@bankend.org. Completed forms should be returned to Worsbrough Bank End Primary School, Underwood Avenue, Worsbrough Dale, Barnsley S70 4AZ.

Our partnership is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

General Information

Worsbrough Bank End Primary School services the wider community of Worsbrough and Kendray, an area of mostly social housing located approximately one mile to the east of Barnsley town centre.  Historically a community living with the long term effects of high levels of unemployment, lack of community confidence and low educational attainment, the community is now starting to turn a corner with decreasing levels of crime, investment in social housing and increasing local opportunities for engaging with the communities.

Ethos

This is a very caring and supportive school providing a safe, secure environment.  We are dedicated to raising confidence and self esteem in all our pupils.  We set high expectations for both learning and behaviour and provide appropriate support to achieve those aims.

Our Youngsters are well mannered, polite and respectful and generally behave well.  The whole staff team work together to challenge, motivate and enthuse our children to value education and prepare them for adult life.

Teaching and Learning

All staff are committed to providing high quality teaching and learning, they approach new initiatives with enthusiasm drive and commitment and continually strive to raise standards.

Over the last four years staff have worked hard to develop teaching and learning, which has resulted in the school adopting accelerated learning techniques, mind mapping and social and emotional development.  The curriculum has been changed to meet the needs of our pupils and break down the barriers to learning.  Staff work hard to impact on pupil achievement.

Parents and Community

The school encourages parent and community involvement at all levels and this continues to be an area of development, since parents, although they engage with school, can be reluctant to be involved in their childrens learning.

Work is well underway to address the Every Child Matters agenda and the leadership team is working hard to plan and develop the extended schools agenda in order that the community receive all support mechanisms they require, some of the agencies involved in this development are, Sure Start, Social Services, School Health, The Stairfoot and Worsbrough Locality Well Being Team, YMCA, PCT, LPT and United Learning Trust.
