The PPT (approx. 85 slides including answer slides) covers the whole Unit and is composed of 3 parts: ’ Social and global aspects’, ‘Equality- issues and actions’ and ‘Environment- dangers and solutions’
It includes:

A lesson to introduce students to global issues and the sustainable development goals.
Activities designed for a 1 hour lesson. Includes a variety of tasks e.g. think pair share, placing issues along a continuum line and justifying choices, video clip with a question and answer sheet and a final creative task. All can be adapted to suit your class.
Designed for KS3, Year 9 geography but would be suitable for citizenship lessons too.
Here is a free resource for you to teach global literacy in your classroom creatively addressing the key issues. This 48-page pack will help you teach your students Global Goals for Sustainable Development published by the UN in 2016 to raise their awareness on global issues with a focus on Global Citizenship, Diversity, Freedom, Poverty, Hunger, and Environmental Issues. While learning many things about global issues and becoming a global citizen, the students will analyze a poem, read two non-fiction texts by Jane Goodall and Nelson Mandela and do the activities about them, write a bio-poem and a biography, an essay and a journal entry, analyze a cartoon and design their own, and prepare a presentation. The activities in the pack will enable you to differentiate learning naturally.

I have created a SOW for Global issues. Powerpoints and resources are all included, as well as a end of topic assessment. I have created these lessons using the KS3 Geography: Heading towards AQA GCSE book. These lessons are designed to be able to deliver without the book.

Full lesson covering Year 11 topic of “global issues” ( Theme 2 AQA) .
Starter and recap point of environmental solutions, routine verb test, moving on to new vocabulary introduced via a speaking game - students must research new key terms before playing the ‘trap doors’ game. This slide should be printed off for students to make annotations.
Grammar point to be elicited from speaking activity: if clause ( foundation) + ext slide for higher ( higher order opinions with subjunctive).
Writing task modelled on the exam task types and differentiated: foundation writing out 4 full sentences in relation to a picture and higher 90 word task. Plenary activity encourages peer feedback, very student friendly yet focused on exam assessment criteria of word count, bullet point coverage, quality and accuracy of message.
