Moving and Handling Techniques- OCR Cambridge Nationals Health and Social Care RO21

An activity to help students develop their skills in answering extended questions in the RO21 Care Values Exam. This activity develops students understanding and ability to answer an extended question that is based on one that frequently comes up in the RO21 exam in which students are asked to explain how personal hygiene, safety and security measures protect individuals. The activity guides students through understanding what the question is asking them to do, planning key words to use, their planning of the key points they need to include and then using this to answer the question. Also included in the document is a marking sheet that can be used for teacher or peer marking. This includes guidance of how to mark the answer and space for feedback to be given as well as space for the student to respond to this feedback. The sheets could be printed on A4, but I enlarge pages 1 and 2 to print A3 double sided and print the 3rd page for peer marking on A4 to then be stuck in their exercise books. Included in the files is a PDF copy of the activity with an example already in the planning sheet and another PDF document with no examples included.

Christmas Moves!

This poster provides suggestions for moving to the beat as different Christmas characters whilst playing your favourite Christmas tunes! Develop children's physical confidence, listening skills and co-ordination as you move as a walking elf, creeping tree or jogging snowman! Character "names" match the pace of the step: - walk-walk-walk-walk like an elf-elf-elf-elf - creeep-creeep like a treeee-treeee -jogging-jogging-jogging-jogging like a snowman-snowman-snowman-snowman As well as physical awareness, this practical application of movement in music helps to develop awareness of phonics and literacy, time and divisions of time, spatial awareness, focus and concentration - and is so enjoyable that it is seen as the Christmas Moving Game - nothing at all like exercise or hard work!

Health and safety - Manual handling

PPT presentation about manual handling methods focused towards engineering activities. There are no additional files as the ones I used are freely available on the HSE website, though there are several single/group work activities that can inspire students to put thought into what they are doing. Used to teach students in preparation for the City & Guilds level 3 in engineering externally assessed exam, with excellent results in previous years. Though it has been made with engineering students in mind, the nature of the subject make it ideal for pretty much any subject. As with all other health and Safety subjects, don't forget to check out the HSE website - that place really has helped me to teach health and safety over the years. Please feel free to copy, paste and chop down any part of the resource you want.

Moving on up! 10-12s

A resource for 10-12 year olds, helping young people with the online aspects of moving to secondary school. A lot of work goes into helping young people make a smooth transition from primary to secondary education. We have created these videos and accompanying resources to help with the online aspects of this move. The videos cover issues like wanting a first phone, group chats, and handling friend and follower requests. Social media and under 13s This resource focuses on helping young people aged 10-13 when moving from primary to secondary education, in the UK this usually happens at the age of 11. This is also a time when many young people will receive their first phone and start to use apps, including social media, to keep in touch with old friends and make new ones, even when they do not meet the age requirements. Most social media and messaging apps have a minimum user age of 13, and we recommend to parents, carers and young people that they wait until they reach this age. Whilst we do encourage young people to wait, we are aware that there will be learners who are already active on these platforms, and this is why they are discussed in this resource. For those learners who are not using social media yet, the activities will be helpful if they choose to do so later. Teachers and educators, if you believe that some of your learners are using social media before they are 13, you should follow the procedures of your school or setting in this situation.

Introduction to interpreting and handling data - column bar graphs

(1)
A simple PPT lesson which will introduce interpreting and handling data, specifically with relation to column charts/ bar graphs. It begins by asking students to guess what a blank graph could represent (interpreting data), before moving on to various graphs with questions designed to introduce the vocabulary related to graphs (axis/axes, mode, range) while also interpreting the data. There is one slide at the end which asks a number of questions to check understanding of the vocabulary and to interpret the graph, and then a final slide which asks students to create their own survey question and think about what the graph could look like.

Uncertainty and Data Handling - Pendulum Experiment AQA Physics

(0)
This is an exercise in data handling, uncertainty propagation, graphical plotting and finding the uncertainty of a gradient. The purpose is walk students through the process of analysing data and concluding with a result and absolute uncertainty on their value for g. The error bars come out quite large so as to show a clear example of a ‘worst line of best fit’ within the error bars. This took my yr 13s a full lesson, with intermittent interventions from myself. Students enjoyed the task and their confidence with data handling has moved forward as a result. An worked solution has been included and ppt is included. Uncertainties given to 1 sig fig as is the norm.

Library Activity Pack: Transport on the Move Resource Book

(0)
The Transport on the Move Resource book is an excellent resource for any library. The Transport on the Move Resource gives you a ticket to ride on vehicles as common as a car and as bizarre as a blimp! From horses to highways and ships to shuttles, transport has continually developed to reach destinations with increasing speed, comfort and technology. Hitch a ride on a chariot in Ancient Rome, take a trip on the Titanic (make sure you reserve a space on a lifeboat), cruise in classic cars and submerge into the world of submarines. This is your chance to hover in a “chopper”, handle huskies in harsh snow and pedal a penny farthing. Along the way, stop off and meet the incredible inventors of many marvellous machines and super safety devices. This book gives you the keys to discover how different forms of transport were developed, as well as giving you a trunk-full of trivia and amazing facts. Travel across land, sea and air, with a side-trip into space and skate back home, a little wiser on everything with wings, wheels, sails and keels. This is a Photocopy Master ebook (32 pages) and activity pages may be photocopied for use in the classroom. Our ebooks are in pdf format. Edubooks is an imprint of Ready-Ed Publications. Motivate your class to get up and moving with this punchy, inspiring rhyme. Why miss out on all the fun? It asks, encouraging standing rather than sitting, and running rather than walking, to keep fresh, smart, trim and slim. The rhyme is in two verses, with different styles. You could use them separately as two different rhymes. Act them out and develop with stretches, runs, jumps, spins and anything else the children suggest.
