This is a letter to the class explaining that from now on they will get homework everynight. Their task is to write a reply stating why they shouldn't.

This is a poem I made up for national poetry day so that I didn't need to go off topic (instructions). The lesson idea is that the children get the incomplete poem with missing imperative verbs that they need to sort out. I have also included comprehension questions to match. I have included the complete poem, questions for the Higher Ability and Middle/Lower Ability, the missing words from the poem and the frames for each ability group as well as a lesson plan.

I used this as a weekly homework writing task booklet for my year 3's. It covers a variety of genre styles including letter writing, descriptive writing, adventure stories, character profile and persuasive writing. Extracts taken from books and two clips to watch about an imaginary world setting. Children to discuss how the world is created and shown to the audience. There third document has a picture from each story for the children to make notes next to.

This is a smarties investigation that I planned for my Y3 class. Because of the age group, I have supported them in the recording of their finding using these problem solving charts. I split the investigation into 3 parts: Higher Ability: Green- are there the same number of each colour in tubes of smarties? Middle Ability: Yellow- Are there the same number of colours in each tube of smarties? Lower Ability: Red- Are there the same number of smarties in each tube? The documents are on A4 publisher but I enlarge them to A3 to make them more manageable for the children.

Used a grid of the 2012 Development Matters Grid and input the new framework objectives.

I have made up a myth starter to support the children in their own myth stories. You can use it as a starting point for the children to continue or as model. Sorry if you spot any mistakes!

This has a planning grid to help children write a letter all about themselves for a new teacher. It says year 3 on the sheet but can be adapted for any year group. It has attatched a letter format for the children to write their letters on.

Taken from 'The Diary Of A Killer Cat'. This is a letter imagining that Tuffy has run away from home after dad nails up the cat flap. It can be used as a comprehension or a model for children to write their own. I have even had children write replies trying to persuade Tuffy back.

A simple worksheet where children sort calculations out by the most efficient method. They can choose partitioning, add then adjust (adding 9 or 11), doubles/near doubles or simple counting on. I used this with my middle ability group in Year 3 to support them in developing and using different strategies.

Assembly script for a harvest festival. It contains a story of a family of churchmice who show what it means to be thankful. Credit is to someone else for the mouse story (can't remember where from though).

Notebook containing a laughter spell set out for the purpose of children writing their own spell. Also attached are some simple comprehension questions.

A simple 2 page notebook aimed at level 3. It has a cafe list with prices and some attached questions. It then has a price list with other amounts on.

I designed these as leaving presents for my year 3 class. The text is editable so you can change the name/class. All you do is print them, fold them and then laminate. Could also be used as a start of year welcome.

Based on the book 'The Witches' by Roald Dahl this is a map to show the 7 continents that Grandma visited in her witch hunting days. She has marked the map with witch hats to show how many she found and where. Children are asked to make their own tally and bar chart with the data.

Starter: Sort thje shapes by number of right angles. Main. Map to plan routes from passing different objects. End: Level 3 SATs question.

Homework chart where pupils put a star everytime they complete their homework. I have a small reward box with pencils etc. for anyone who fills the whole chart.

Worksheet that splits compound words up into their root words. Children fill in missing spaces to complete the compound word. Pretty basic activity that fitted in Phase 12 spelling list.

Very plain and simple sheet with various rectangles on. My class struggled with shading in 3/4 of a shape so I have made all the rectangles for this purpose.
