Annotation Guide for GCSE Art

(1)
Attached is a word document that I use with my GCSE (15 year old) students for their art exam. I tend to give them this document at the beginning of the project so as they work throughout the project they have access to the sentence starters when they need as many of my students tend to complete their writing tasks at home. The sentence starters/ annotation frame work give suggestions on how students can start writing about their work and works of other artists. I've found this very helpful for the less able students. This document includes sentence starters for writing about a: - Statement of Intent - Artist Research and Links - Primary or Secondary images - Observational studies - Media trials - Evaluation of Final piece It also has a list of key words that could be used within the annotations and tips on how to be successful. If you choose to purchase this and find it very useful please leave me a rating to let others know what you thought. If this is something you have found extremely helpful please tweet, FB share, cut and paste the link into emails and share the link with other teachers in order to help them. Thank you. Mark

One Point Perspective Draw Along Step-by-Step How To

ART 77 Presents: This small unit of work is a minimum 3 hours of creative fun that inspire, challenge and boost students self confidence in drawing. No matter if you are an art specialist or not this power point will have you look like an expert and engage the students. Included: lesson plans tonal study starter perspective intro PowerPoint how to draw one point perspective student examples marking scheme print out This is a power point that enables all students to draw in one point perspective. There are 9 slides in total holding numerous animations to enable a step by step procedure for your students to easily follow along with. I use this in my lessons and have found this to be good for students with low self-esteem and basic skills as it shows them how to start the drawing. It was also good for the gifted and talented students as they are encouraged to creatively and independently explore details using perspective rules. Why this product was designed: To promote self-confidence at an early age in students own ability to draw 3D realistic imagery on a 2D surface. Intended use for a lesson: This product is meant to be used in a lesson that is based on architecture and/or architectural drawing where the teacher requires an outcome in one point perspective. I have started students drawing on A5 size paper (half of a regular printer size paper) so they can practise their skills. After learning one point perspective I’ll have my student go onto drawing two point perspective and finally from there I’ll have students draw on A4 (regular size computer printer paper) in the choice of one or two point perspective. This product is meant as a student follow along power point that teaches the students the rules in one point perspective. Lesson 1 will teach students the basic rules of 1 point perspective while they copy line for line the first two buildings. It then encourages students to use the rules they have just learnt to continue drawing the rest of their cityscape creatively in 1 point perspective. Lesson 2 focuses on creatively adding details and structural elements into the students building on a step by step basis. Lesson 3 focuses on shading the buildings. Here the lesson would benefit by starting with the drawing tonal starter work sheet in order to get the student thinking about tones.

Portraiture through Silhouettes

This Unit of Work (4-6 lessons)was designed to promote student self-identity and build their self-esteem through a graphical silhouette self-portrait. This Unit of Work includes: 2 PowerPoints (27 slides) Cover page - Instructional use and reason for designing this scheme of work Marking Scheme Design handout 4 lesson plans ready to go (just add your class specific details) Using the silhouette allows the students to create an accurate portrait while allowing them to find ways of capturing expression with in a piece of artwork. I've found students to have difficulties with portraiture and get very frustrated, thus giving up early into the project. Because this project is based on photography students drawing abilities are not essential(to a degree) their outcomes are successful and their creativity soars. It was amazing for me to see, given the opportunity just how creative some of my students could be. Students have enjoyed exploring ICT media while creating in thei project. I am sure your students will love this project. Please see the preview for examples of students finished work. If you like this project please leave some feedback and ratings. Thanks for taking the time to look at this resource. Mark

Hello, This resources was designed to help myself mark more accurately by calculating marks based on the latest (2018) grade boundary. This roughly allowed me to see where each students was based on the grades given and then allowed me to have conversations with my students to identify areas that they need to improve. I used this resource as on going marking and also at year end as it combines the Unit 1, Unit 2 and Personal Essay marks for one final grade. I hope you find this resource as helpful as I do.

This package includes a 65 page follow along PowerPoint, 4 page printable publisher worksheets and resources and a 6 page pre typed customisable lesson plan template. This is a power point follow along that will help students to understand how the Primary, Secondary and Tertiary colours are mixed, describe the Opposite (contrasting) colours and why they are beneficial when painting, teach students how to create Tints and Shades, as well as how to mix a brown and black with Primary colours. I have found that this power point on average will take about three lessons to go through with students while allowing them the time to explore and experiment with paint mixing. This package comes with printable hand outs, differentiated hand outs, final (exemplar) study, key word print out and display, and a lesson plan. Why this product was designed: This product is designed to get students to become familiar with colours and how they work together. Furthermore, it will help students to understand how to mix colours found on the colour wheel. Intended use for: This product is intended for early Secondary School aged students but can be adapted for senior elementary students by focusing solely on the colour wheel only and negating the advanced tints, shades and opposite parts of the colour theory.
