Religion Peace and Conflict Revision Edexcel

A revision worksheet I have made for my year 11 groups. Highlights everything they need to know on that topic for the exam. This is very reassuring for students. It is best used on A3 and this particular sheet is double sided and includes some exam technique. Please rate and comment...feedback is much appreciated :-) Lianne

Answers to Plato & Aristotle Exam Questions OCR

I used this in order to highlight what is required to do well. The first answer got full marks in an exam, the second I would personally give around 14 and 5. It is also very insightful as it shows them how easy it is to actually do well if you are concise and link back to the question. The Aristotle part b is particularly useful as it makes judgements on every strength or criticism it discusses. This is something I find year 12 students struggle to develop. Therefore this is a good model for them :)

Develop arguments for and against. 3. Wave flags for the relevant philosopher (the flags I made from card & straws!). 4.Organise a card sort into the correct order é to categorise the irrelevant statements. Students tell me how they could link the irrelevant statements to abortion. 5. Write a conclusion to the question referencing targets set at the beginning é peer assessment. Please leave a rating :)

Family Conflict

A lesson on family conflict and why it can take place because of religious views. I also used a clip from Bend it Like Beckham at the beginning. This was basically where the girl is playing in the park, her Mother sees her, and then explains to her Father when she gets home. This worked incredibly well, and students related to it very easily.

This is a PP with activities and a few videos. The first video, on democracy, is particularly useful as it highlights what a democracy is in very simple terms - something some of my students had no idea about! It also covers electoral processes, and is a great source for evaluating afterwards. I haven't used the second video as I did not have time, but the class democracy was particularly fun! My students, suprisingly, got very into it.

Our second lesson on consumer rights. In the previous lesson students learnt what their consumer rights by using SAD FART from Moneysaving expert. We also looked at a few examples from an episode of watchdog. This lesson is focused on applying their consumer rights to an example of their choice. They demonstrate this through writing a letter of complaint. The first slide includes a youtube clip of a silly man complaining about his pizza- the kids loved it!

Judaeo Christian God Creatio Ex Nihilo

This is an up to date lesson based on Creatio Ex Nihilo and Divine Fiat, Bara and Asah. I marked for OCR last summer and they stressed the importance of this content for Creatio Ex Nihilo. There is hardly any content about this in books and on the internet so thought I would share :) One of the most important outcomes is that students can explain t hat Ex Nihilo is not stressed in the Bible- it is assumed from this.
