Rites of Passage - Upanayana

(6)
I've made a quick powerpoint and worksheet to explain this Hindu Sacred Thread Ceremony as part of my half term on Rites of Passage. Our broadband is so slow at school that I can&'t show the relevant Learning Zone Clip and needed something visual to compliment my RE Today booklet on Rites of Passage. Hope it&';s of some use!

French Numbers Loop 1-30

(4)
I have created a simple number loop from 1-30 for my Year 3s and Year 4s. They can practise their numbers orally and recognise them in written form. It also reinforces 'J'ai&' and introduces &';Qui a...?' It&'s not an elaborate resource but a handy one and a good starter and revision exercise.

Matching up or collecting families of a quarter to, a quarter past and half past the hour. I haven't tried this out yet but I&'m going to use it this week with my Year 2 class as they are struggling with the &';quarter to/quarter past' in digital and analogue.

French weather report role play

(1)
I use role plays to reinforce new vocab. I split the class in half and they take turns to do the 2 parts (after we've translated the phrases as a whole class). Then they practice the role play in pairs. Afterwards, they have the opportunity to act out a weather report with a map of France. They choose which weather symbol goes where.

History of the Recorder

(2)
I am going to use this to introduce the recorder to the children in my Year 3 class so that they don't just see it as a toy, but a serious musical instrument. I intend to demonstrate both the descant and treble recorders in my lesson too.
