Created for a mixed ability year 8 class as a summary after teaching sound intensity and its effects on sound waves. The focus of the last question was to encourage pupils to use the correct scientific words (amplitude) to describe the sound waves.

I used this as a revision activity and got the pupils to underline the key terms in definitions, e.g. whether is specified one mole or a balance equation etc.

Hint sheets created for pupils to practice the naming, drawing and generating the molecular formula of alkanes & alkenes. Pupils used these hint sheets to answer exam questions after minimal teaching on valency of C é H, naming patterns and saturated/unsaturated hydrocarbons and how to test for them.

A revision activity designed to help pupils learn how to match equations to questions in exams. Pupils match up the questions to the equation given in a set format. They must then work out the answer to the question (sometimes requiring rearrangement of the equation).

Simple energy transfer car sorting activity, used with mixed ability year 7 group. I did this with the whole class - each pupil had a card and had to find their partners without talking. Designed to allow a mixed ability class to practice momentum calculations. Pupils work out the answers to each card and match up the two cards with the same answer. Can do with the cards face down with pupils taking it in turns to turn 2 cards over to try and match them for an added bit of challenge.
