Introduction to Python - A Textbook for GCSE

I couldn't find a good Python text book for the new OCR GCSE Computing Specification, so I wrote one. Couple of typos in there and you'll need your own judgement as to what to introduce and when but you can't beat it for the price! Keywords: code, loops, iteration, selection, algorithm, KS4

ICT Careers Posters

I made these a couple of years ago as a practice task to get me into Quark Xpress. The salaries seemed a bit high at the time so they're probably about right now. I quite like doing a research task where all the posters are stuck up and the students have to answer questions like 'What career would be good for someone with an instinct for spotting a good story?'.

Flash Animation Activities for Beginners

A series of flash lessons/tutorials you can run over a 6 week course. The images for the Ken Burns lesson are all CC licensed but you could easily change the topic if you wanted to - providing a set of images to work from is a HUGE timesaver and avoids spending the first 30 minutes browsing Photobucket(!) The Drag and Drop images are courtesy of David Philips (with permission). The last lesson is HARD, largely because the student has to stop and see how it’s going to work rather than just blindly clicking buttons so it looks like the PDF.

Drag and Drop Quiz In Flash

As the title says, you can use this to create a simple multiple choice quiz in Flash, but instead of a simple 'click the box' type activity, this one allows the user to drag their chosen answer to a box. I've seen a student create a great quiz with 25 different bones, the user having to drag the name to the correct place.

Designed to meet the requirements for Section 3.1.3 of the AQA AS Computing syllabus this could easily be adapted for the new GCSE Computing course as well. As always, resources are released under a Creative Commons BY-NC-SA 2.0 UK license and are also available at mukoku.vl3.co.uk.

Flash Pacman Animation

A set of screencasts I made a little while ago after my lower 6th and I had great fun creating Pacman animations in Flash. Here you've got tweening, animations within symbols, motion paths, sound, layers - everything you need to really start getting to grips with Flash animation techniques.
