An independent piece of work I have done with a set of Year 1s to check their understanding of odd and even numbers. Have just left the LO as our marking grid isn’t the same for everyone. Card match up game – children have 1 half of a couple eg. Minnie & Mickey. (I cut them out and laminate so they last longer) Children can walk around the class (or sit in a circle) and ask ‘Como te llamas?’ to which another child answers ‘Me llamo…’ and if they match then they check their pair matches with an adult and sit down together. Could also add ‘Y tu?’ if the children are able.

Flashcards I have used as a 'Pairs&' game for small groups (better laminated) or as prompt cards for quick recall. The words on their own can also be used with older groups as prompts for a MFL version of Pictionary (where they pick up the word and have to draw it for their team against the clock).

Blockbuster-esque game on the IWB for the days of the week and months of the year. I have used this as an end of topic recap and works really well with mixed ability groupings.
