Card sort activity that involves pupils discovering the causes and how they are related themselves.

Split into two lessons (1 - researching evidence & putting it into evidence sheets; class split into groups. 2 - trial and aftermath) My first proper attempt at putting stuff together myself - apologies for stolen parts.

Lesson that involves studying the history of the KKK in the 1920s. Pupils to first look at the poem'Strange Fruit' (if you don't listen to the Billie Holiday version, you are crazy), then compose their own poem to commemorate the lynchings. The handout has a brief summary of what is discussed at the start of the lesson and a list of useful words they might want to use. Apologies for stolen parts, particularly the starter, which was brilliant.

An hour and a half lesson on the fortunes of four characters under the Nazi dictatorship. The main activity, which can last anywhere from half and hour to an hour, is a quick on the draw activity where pupils are given information on developments on strips of paper. They then fill in their sheet and try to infer what effects there would be on the different characters.

A lesson that requires pupils to analyse different forms of propaganda, and use this to inform their own creation of propaganda.

A lesson that looks at the experiences of ordinary soldiers. There are a a few really good videos, some pictures and diagrams to discuss and plenty of opportunities to use your own knowledge should you wish. Students consolidate with a newspaper writing task.

Lesson which concludes Year 7 studying Henry II & Thomas Becket, as it's interesting finding out what happened next. Pupils card sort to work out what Henry II should do to solve the problems that arise after Becket's murder, then write a letter advising Henry what to do and why. Writing frame for less able pupils. Apologies for stolen parts.

This is something I have made to be used with my (vertical) tutor group. It has really help them understand the importance of the event and what the EU is. I have tried to make it as accessible as possible and it is designed to be gone through over three or so tutor times. This links in with all the Citizenship / SMSC requirements of schools. I have put plenty of links to videos. I have tried to be as balanced as possible, though I understand that some may question this. Apologies for any stolen parts.

Lesson that examines the ways in which we remember World War One. First you give them an understanding of different types of commemoration, then allow them to create their own. There are a fair few activities, so it is up to you what you prioritise - I tend to do this based on class ability.
