Two experiments: first based on weighted dice (which I made) pupils tally results calculating experimental probabilities after 10 trials and ‘more’ trials. Excel document collects class’ data to compare to individual results. (More trials set up so they can roll the dice at their own pace and probabilities are plotted for the class) Second experiment classic 'car race activity&' sheet is set up so that pupils can carry out the race until one car wins then work out the experimental probability of each then use the sample space diagram to compare the theoretical probabilities.

Pupils need to solve the murder by adding up a shopping list and seeing who's bank balance matches, round to nearest decimal places and significant figures, work out circumference which is &'linked to intelligence...&'; and round to 1 s.f. to perform quick calculations. Quite a lengthy starter to make sure they have the basics for the main activity. I allowed them a calculator from question 3 onwards once they had finished the written calculations and moved on to rounding and significant figures.

The 'lesson 2' starts with a recap of labelling the sides of a triangle then goes on to calculating sides and angles using the cover up method. I paired this with a few ten ticks exercises. The other file covers more complex problems involving trigonometry including angles of depression and elevation- I then used the Collins textbook. I have uploaded a file similar to this before but have added an extra example and changed to the cover up method. Please rate if you use it, and message me if I make a silly mistake so I can correct it!
