I have developed this resource in A5 - in the hope that students keep it in their pockets as anything as big as A4 is deemed a big negative by some students. This resource offers a crash guide/technique to the exam.

Introducing 19th texts to students in a 'funky' way. This is aimed at the new AQA/Edexcel specs English GCSE. There are two original articles about cats being used to hunt instead of dogs. Questions follow that test comprehension and also extend to a final mini creative task. There is also a short collection of photos of cats which students have to use to match to the article.

This is a KS4 document. The design is interactive - students can focus on embedding learning and extending analytical vocab. There are some MEGA tough ones (Test yourself!) but there are also some simple ones. There are quotes and explanations for each quote and device.

This is a lesson to captivate and take advantage of the campaign in the US. The worksheet contains everything a student and a teacher needs for a healthy debate/discussion/essay - stand back and watch out for fire when you ask students for their thoughts. Video clips of worst bits and best bits (speeches) included.

A persuasive writing task. Activity guideline, images, key words and ambitious vocabulary. In lesson I bought a load of tins of processed peas and gave them to students (to add the kinesthetic touch). For an extension and challenge task students were given even worse tins to try to 'pitch' like chilli sardines, pickled herrings and spam (it does still exist).
