Inspired by “Mock the Week”! If this is the answer… …what is the question? Students have to think of a possible exam question for the answer given. I’ve found it has helped students with exam technique - in a silly fun way!

Designed for Sept 2020 when having to teach KS3 music without instruments in random classrooms! The students draw what they imagine in their head as they listen to the music… lesson 1; Beethoven’s 6th Symphony & Grieg’s Hall of Mountain King lesson 2; Ravel’s Jeux D’eau & Dukas’s Sorcerer’s Apprentice lesson 3; Berlioz’s Symphonie Fantastique & Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring The perfect excuse to encourage lots of discussion about how musical techniques have sparked their vivid imaginations!

OCR Music GCSE Area of Study 3 I did this with my yr10 class as a "pub quiz". A few slides probably need editing (any feedback would be greatly appreciated) but it was a lot of fun, hope some of you find it useful! (The dancing round with Geoffrey my pink fluffy toy flamingo was particularly spectacular)

When Dr Who met...

Someone else on here had the brilliant idea of 'When Dr Who met Handel' which inspired me to make up a few more (not only composers but also a few jazz / pop artists, fitting in with black history month and 12 bar blues) My year 10 class produced some amazing powerpoint presentations - it forced them to research the genres / eras / composers / artists (well, ok they probably looked on wikipedia!) and then create some fantastically funny stories for homework! Hope some of you find it similarly useful for a homework or cover lesson etc :-)
