This is the revision powerpoint I use with my year 11 GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition class. It’s suitable for those using the AQA examination board. The Powerpoint is used alongside a booklet and gives a re-cap of main areas as well as highlighting useful links for the general knowledge required to answer the longer questions worth high marks. I use this for pupils who are in inclusion or who have not got ingredients for the practical session. It means I can get on with practical work rather than finding something for the pupils to do. It also helps improve knowledge of the subject and covers in more depth some of the work it is not possible for me to cover in a 10 week rotation.

This is the booklet I use with my year 9 classes. It is completed over a 10 week period where there are 15 lessons. The work is to help build the skills required for NEA 1 and NEA 2 at GCSE. It introduces the basic skills including how to conduct an investigation, how to record results, how to research and how to produce detailed time plans. Pupils are encouraged to work as a team for the investigation work then independently for a food preparation task.

A year 8 food technology project which I deliver over 10 weeks (3 lessons per fortnight). Some of the work has been adapted from ideas on here - hope you don't mind. Project works well. I encourage pupils to assess their skills to plan the final dish - the majority do choose an appropriate dish. Also attached are the powerpoint presentations I use - I don't use them for the actual practical lessons as they have the recipe booklets (or should have) with them. Hope they are of use.

This is an updated version of a previous resource. It is based on 15 lessons with pupils over 10 weeks. The basic knowledge is covered such as washing up, weighing and measuring, The Eatwell Guide and sustainability. The work helps to build the skills required should pupils choose to opt for GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition. Along with the booklet is the Scheme of Work and the recipe booklet I use. Hope you find them useful.
