Creates 10 random bingo cards. Rules on second page of spreadsheet. Ask the children to cross off factors of a number. First to get five in a line wins. Please note: All the numbers are randomly generated so it is possible for a card to contain all low numbers or all high numbers. In which case, use F9 to recalculate the random numbers.

The aim of the activity is for the children to work out the least number of coins needed by each person to pay the exact amount of their stationery bill. Six shopping lists are included and one price list. I will be using this activity with a small group, getting them to work in 2's or 3's to solve the problems. As well as calculating totals, money and multiplication, the children will need to use their x10 table facts.

A Smart Notebook lesson where children investigate horizontal, vertical, parallel and perpendicular lines. Children create artwork using different types of line, they must identify the number of each type of line, writing the answers on the back. The sheets are collected in, photocopied, and then distributed to different children who then solve the problem. There is an opportunity for peer marking, with the original artist being asked to check the work.
