Physics Workbook

(146)
A physics workbook to be used with students who are sitting the new AQA Science A syllabus. Update: This workbook is several years old now and the syllabus may have changed significantly since then, for the last two years I've been teaching to Edexcel, not AQA, so please don't get too irate if you find it to be too dated to be of use as a whole.

Goal Setting

These materials are to help guide students into setting measurable, attainable, time-restricted goals by breaking them down into weekly steps. These are going to be used during Pastoral time for Year 8 students, but they could be adapted - namely by changing the images and the steps in the step by step slide - to be more relevant to other age groups. The lesson plan originally came from one I found on http://www.teacherhub.com (http://www.teachhub.com/language-arts-goal-setting-activity#register-form-f) but was in places a little too American, or an error or two.

Hydrogen vs. Helium Research Worksheet

The plan is this: I'll laminate enough copies of the first sheet to give one sheet per group (either pairs or threes). Students use erasable markers to fill in the sheet and come to have it checked periodically. Once their sheet is completed, checked and so correct, then they'll get paper copies for each of them to complete, trim and stick in to their exercise books. The second sheet I intend to have one laminated copy, that I will keep hold of, with a viewing window made from coloured card. If students decide that they really cannot work out which gas the property applies to, or why it is that particular gas, then they can come and get a clue - namely a chance to look at that part of a completed sheet, but it will cost their team/pair points. I'm planning on using this with a Y10 iGCSE Edexcel Double Award Chemistry class to meet spec points 1.5 and part of 2.5 Ps. As a loosely connected secondary aim I'm hoping to steer students towards the RSC Periodic Table site as a way of reinforcing the idea of a reputable, reliable source - all the information they would need to complete the sheet can actually be found on that site
