Sorry, its been in the making for so long. Have just finished all the jolly phonics sets 1-7 with BSL sign language. These cards give opportunities for children to become aware of languages and writing systems other than English, and communication systems such as signing.

These Superhero books have been designed for boys (made one for girls- fairy tales). The purposes of these books are to raise boys' interest in reading. Therefore I have used images which they are familiar with and enjoy looking at and talking about. I have kept the wording simple and used very repetitive phrases.

I have made this simple tracking grid, to see at a glance which evidence I need to collect for individual children for their profile (learning journal) book. Collect pieces of evidence and tick it them off on the grid. I use one grid per term to make sure that each child will have at least one piece of evidence in their learning journals.

A few weeks ago I downloaded a high frequency word ‘Shrek’ power point, this inspired me to make some similar ones.Taking into account my childrens views, we came up with Ben 10 for the boys and of course the girls choose Disney princesses. I have only included the HF words we have learnt so far, however you can copy and paste the slides and add words as you go along. From experience its a good point to shows the pictures first before concentrating on the words.

I laminated the melon slice and seeds, then attached the seeds on with Velcro. My children loved counting the seeds. I made slices with 3, 6 and 10 seeds. I have made this activity on word so that you can edit it, you can make the seeds bigger or smaller and to extend the activity you can put numbers on the seeds. This melon slice will take 10 seeds.
