End of Year Quiz 2012

(128)
Quiz with 6 rounds on famous places, keypad conundrums, connections, macro photography and a thematic quiz. I have used the name of my school on both, but these can be amended. If you are a teacher at my school, I would appreciate if you did not use this quiz. You could instead choose the 2011 quiz as the kids will have forgotten since last year!! I have a link to my youtube channel for ease on the listening round, or you could choose to load the wmv file instead. Please rate and leave feedback!

Christmas Quiz 2012

An updated version to my 2012 quiz for Christmas. Media file was too big to upload so I have included my YouTube link to my user page. Please rate and comment. Remember, if you are a teacher at my school, I would appreciate it if you didn't use this quiz as some teachers have used it before and crushed my bubble. I love creating resources as well as sharing them.... but I would hope for some professionalism of which we are all capable of. I had hoped to get this loaded sooner, but the realities of the amount of work involved has yet again taken it&'s toll!

Problem of evil and suffering for KS3

(27)
Previously created for KS4 - now adapted for KS3 (year 9) using levels, diamond ranking and AfL using mini white boards and self/peer assessment. Have included my new 'Big IDEA' assessment guidance which I have just come up with and started to use recently. Also using a flow chart that I found and then adapted from RE stuff and added to info sheet to get kids to explain using it rather than reams of text. Was for a performance management observed lesson today right at the end of term (when kids are stir crazy) but went really well.

Used for an observed lesson for a group of mixed ability pupils. Classed as outstanding with a range of activities. Assessors loved the flow chart activity used with animal card sorting cards. I adapted this flow chart from a user on RE stuff to suit my pupil and my activity. Didn't use the info sheet in the end, but useful as a backup.

OCR part E evaluation questions

I have used the Edwin the evaluator model as suggested by an OCR examiner and added a few more ideas. The publisher document is in A3 as it is intended for display purposes - This can obviously be reduced to suit an a4 format to go inside students books. I have used images of the Simpsons in order to make more memorable for students. I have also added a pdf document of the same file for those who do not have publisher.

What is a moral dilemma?

(29)
I used the new 'Themes to inspiRE' textbook to put this together and used the tasks ideas from this. I have also included a story board task for lower ability workers - this can obviously be omitted for higher abilities. To keep more difficult classes on task, there is also a scenario grid to fill in promoting self managers. As a final task, pupils wrote fantastic moral dilemma stories! All week, I have been hearing pupils in the corridor talking about Mrs Franklin and asking whether they would 'snitch' on her!!

Used Watton's religion and life for Believing in God unit. This was put together for a group that had behavioural problems - so tasks are spread out in short bursts. can obviously be adapted to suit. Thanks to the person who provided the starter image from wealth and poverty and to the person who provided moral and evil image sequence. If you use you tube there are some empathy provoking imbed links on the 9/11 and tsunami pitures later in the lesson.

End of year quiz 2016

(4)
My newest end of year quizzes that I keep getting asked for.Youtube clip for round 6 https://youtu.be/6OBXRP6Uov8 Done earlier this year as I am now teaching in an International British School so we finish in June! There are 6 rounds - places, keypad conundrum, connect to 2016, personalities, wotz dat?? and my music round. This year's music round is music from the 80's, 90's, 00's and 10's. The music round alone took me 4 hours to create! This will fill an hour including the marking, but you must be tight on timing. I would suggest for each picture in the places round - 10 seconds. For the personalities round 2 minutes and for the wotz dat?? round 3 minutes maximum. The conundrum round should have no more than 10 minutes, but they should be able to do it in 5 as the focus is English punctuation and there are only so many forms of punctuation. The music round takes 10 minutes (video I have created). My quizzes usually prove to be very popular and the kids love them! Enjoy!

Scrabble Tile Generator

I have created this for tutor literacy but can be used in lots of subjects. Press s to pause and restart the generator. I have also made a publisher doc of all of the tiles that can be laminated and have velcro on the back to do words on the board (or blue tack). I have included a ppt version of just the tiles incase you don't have publisher. Rather than a static screen with prepopulated racks, I thought it might make things a bit more interactive if they could randomly choose their own tiles.

Used in an introductory unit on religious buildings and art for year 7 and spread over two lessons. This lesson/activity is one of the lessons that year 7's really enjoyed over the year and remembered. They were really proud of their work and even near the end of the year when we did our technology week project, they were able to use their prior learning to create some fantastic buildings in July. I have incorporated some examples of their work in the presentation as well as our newsletter insert from November. Please leave comments and ratings.

I have started my holidays by concentrating on creating an inspirational classroom for September. My 'googling&' has brought many interesting finds. But I thought I may as well share them, so I have put some of my favorites in these publisher documents.
