A great project for Key stage 3 - I have made Gaudi inspired chimney pots and hats in the past with pupils. But have finalised this scheme of work to create a more complex 3D clay form. The pupils love the topic. Natural forms are very accessible to draw from, and the ppt's are user friendly and do the job of passing on knowledge to the learner.

This project and attached scheme of work teaches from how to use a sewing machyine up to every other textile technique there is. Artists incorporated are Naomi Renouf, Carol Naylor, Angie Lewin, Bren Boardman, Nicky Dillerstone and then the pupils select one other of their choice. These contextual links introduce how to analyse (see attached example of analysis sheet) and then allows students to respond to their work through use of a variety of techniques (applique, machine embroiodery, printing, felt making etc). All the images are final pieces based on landscapes

Designed for year 6 - a project on Cubism with exemplar art activities included. With a focus on Boccioni - students are introduced to the concept of Futurism and his work. They then develop techniques to create their own imagery based on speed and movement.

An introductory/first project for year 7s. Exploring their ability to discuss art work, apply tone and produce a decorative slab of clay. Should give teachers a reasonable baseline of ability through presentation skills, vocabulary, motor skills, tonal skills and finesse with clay.

Abstract themed - with a design brief to complete in 2-3 hours in exam conditions.

A unit of work for year 9 leading into GCSE or this could be expanded upon for GCSE coursework.

A fully resourced powerpoint of exemplar tasks (basically lesson by lesson) with imagery and exemplar work. Organic is a 3D GCSE project which ensures good outcomes for all students. The project includes use of clay, card, wire and foam and at the end shows some examples of student responses.

Written for a year 4 class, but can be adapted for ks2 or ks3. Focussing on the work of Kandinsky and using music as a drawing stimulus, abstract imagery is created

I have done my own exam project for AQA GCSE Photography based on 2023 paper theme of ‘Our World’. This guides teachers through the project in terms of what to include with exemplar work to show students.

A fun project teachign the formal elements through various artists and techniques - resulting in a final piece displaying 3 formal elements and 3 techniques/materials on the theme of Rockpool. Complete with levelled objectives, imagery, art links, and exemplar work.

Introductory project for year 7 which uses the book ‘Kensuke’s Kingdom’ by Miachael Morpurgo to introduce a wide range of art materials and techniques to really hook them in as they start secondary school. Clay techniques, tonal drawing, felt making & stitch, printing and lots of fun!

Looking at surrealism and then introduction to how to use photoshop to create their own surreal imagery.

Children appear to be very keen on Manga, so I bit the bullet and devised a project for them. It links well to SMSC as they select a world issue they feel passionate about eliminating and design themselves as a Manga Super Hero combatting that issue. AstroBoy was the first Manga character born from WW2 devastation in Japan, he was superhero, so it seemed a natural link to utilise. Here is a ppt with all objectives and teacher examples attached.

Basic lino printing project - tessellations based on a cultural link

A great drawing focussed project based on the book ‘Stone Cold’ by Robert Swindells. It selects objects from the story to focus on drawing skills in a range of media. It links parts of the text to the students work too and also explores two artists who create homeless portraits. Its a great topic for discussion and eliminating the stigma attached to the issue. Great link to your English department if they use this book. PPt of all lessons and teacher examples attached.
