This is an adaptable project I have used in KS3, even with non specialists, hence there are notes with most of the slides. It comes with photographs of some of my pre-made still lifes’ on the flat, starter activities and stretch & challenge tasks. The students will learn how to make a quick viewfinder, develop their knowledge about composition, and can produce a piece either as a drawing or a painting. Or it can be adapted to suit your needs.

This is a self led project written during lockdown with the restriction of materials and tools in mind, primarily using mobile phone photography. The project is based on artists such as: The Boyle Family, Henry Moore, Ian Murphy and more in mind. Students are able to explore a range of photographic options, imagining objects and surface in and out of the home. If access to a PC there are instructions on how to use Pixlar but they can also use any editing suite they have access via their phones. They can use any materials that they have access to. This can be done in an out of a sketchbook. The unit covers all the AQA GCSE criteria and works to a format that runs through each criteria with learning objectives, from the title page, art analysis, observations, and the final piece, including evaluation sheets.

A Pop Art project focusing on painting and composition, using past and present Pop art images. This is very successful with my Y8 groups of all abilities. For my groups i have made Pop Collages for them to work from. unfortunately I have not included these as there are too many but i have included some gridded versions. However, you can just fill sheets with a wide variety of Pop art images and comics for students to work from.
