This lesson aims to recap vocab learnt at KS3 to describe houses and develop further especially language for giving opinions. It includes some speaking practice with peer assessment.

Revision and preparation for a written controlled assessment on the topic of future plans.

A powerpoint with activities, supported by two worksheets. Pupils read about La Guadeloupe, with activities to guide them through the text. They then look at finding information based on different headings, using a short text about Morocco. This can then lead on to pupils researching and presenting information about a Francophone country either on their own or in pairs or groups. This has been keeping our Y9’s busy but could also serve as ground work for GCSE pupils!

A lesson on why food is healthy or unhealthy and how often you should eat different foods. Notes accompany slides explaining how to exploit. This lesson was graded 'outstanding&' - for what it&';s worth!

A short text about Easter in French which can be used as a starter (or longer activity!). Pupils identify cognates and work out which strategies they have used to try to understand the text. They can then add any new ones they come up with to the list.

vocabulary matching up and questions to accompany the BBC class clips video on recycling and environmental issues.

Various activities to enable learners to be able to work out the meanings of words in French using suffixes, roots of words etc. This can help to raise awareness of the similarities between French and English which pupils often miss.

This is a lesson which consolidates use of the future tense in the context of leisure interests, with some input on direct object pronouns. I used this with a more able Y8 class. Apologies - slide 7 should read 'direct&' not &';indirect'
