Something I used to keep the students quiet whilst they arrive into the class settle down and I take the register!!

Guess the logo's, 9 to guess. I tried this with my year 8's and it worked really well for a quick 5 mins starter.

I created this document from the AQA Resistant Materials (Blue) book. You could set this as an practice exam or get the students to seek the answers from the books, up to you! :-)

A good starter activity with the aim to get the students in the right frame of mind at the beginning of the lesson.

divide your class into five groups, give each group a sheet about woods and a question sheet (end of pdf) then give each group bout 20 mins to prepare their answers before they stand up and report back to the class. Nice and simple :-)

Starter task, identify if the image is a Isometric and Oblique style drawing, 12 to choose from.

Identify/match the man made board image with the definition, could be used as a starter, revision or AFL task.

A bit of info about Forces & Structures along with a couple of small quick activities. I used the second part of this presentation (forces) to challenge the kids to work in groups. Each group then had to give a presentation to the class. I printed the last 5 sheets of this pdf off and handed one sheet to each group and then took it away after 5 mins, they then gave a presentation to the class about their specific force. A busy lesson but if you pull it along with pace it works well. Try it...

Match the name of the various different saws with the picture in the table and suggest the material/s they cut. As a bonus question name the wood joint shown and suggest the workshop tools used to make the wood joint.
